She debuted her first single Here in the year 2015 at the age of aged 19. It went down a storm and was praised by the public and from critics. The song reached the top spot in both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it as one of the top songs of the year. In that same year she dropped her debut album Know It All with the third song Scars to Your Beautiful being the first of five tracks which peaked on the Billboard charts. This includes those of the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. The track was distinctive because many people related to the interview she did with The Rap-Up crew about how she struggled in learning to love and embrace her. Cara's music has been praised for her messages of love in self-love, and mental wellbeing. The music she sings is reflective of her own personal struggles with insomnia and mental health. According to a Reuters Interview, her album is described as challenging and refined. The therapy she received helped her to grow and she encourages others to seek help if necessary. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11, 1996. The guitar was gifted to her from her parents at the age of was 10 years old and it ignited her love for music. She began singing covers of her favorite songs when she was 13, to show the world she had the ability and confidence that was required to become a performer. One of her covers Sweater Weather is the one which got her attention by EP Entertainment. They allowed her to compose and record her tracks.
